THE PREDATORY SEQUENCE

The Hunting Circuit

To a human, a bite or a sudden lunge looks like "aggression." To a predator, it is simply Math. The Predatory Sequence is a hardwired biological circuit: See -> Stalk -> Chase -> Grab -> Kill -> Eat. This circuit is fueled by dopamine. It does not matter if your animal is a cat, a dog, a reptile, or a bird of prey—they are all programmed to hunt. When this circuit has no outlet in captivity, it misfires. We cannot delete this software. We must give it a valid program to run.

EXPLORE THE TOPICS:

1. THE SEQUENCE BREAKDOWN

(Identifying Your Pet’s Biological Blueprint)

Every predator has a "favorite" part of the hunting chain. Some species are Ambush Predators (stuck in "Stalk/Freeze"), while others are Pursuit Predators (stuck in "Chase"). We break down the universal stages of the hunt so you can identify which part of the cycle your specific animal is trying to satisfy.

2. THE "MISFIRE"

(Why They Attack the Wrong Things)

When the biological target (prey) is missing, the drive locks onto the next available target: You. Whether it is a parrot biting a finger, a lizard striking at movement, or a cat attacking an ankle, the mechanism is the same: Target Displacement. We explain why they aren't "mean"—they are just running a hunting program on the wrong operating system.

3. COMPLETING THE LOOP

(The Biological Solution)

You cannot suppress the urge to hunt; you can only redirect it. The solution is Simulation. We discuss how to identify your animal's "Hunting Style" and provide the correct outlet—allowing them to stalk, chase, or shred a designated object to discharge that built-up energy safely.

4. THE "ALL DONE" SIGNAL

Turning the Switch Off

In nature, the hunt always ends with Consumption. In the home, playtime often just stops, leaving the animal high on adrenaline with nowhere to go. We teach you the universal "Hunt-Eat-Sleep" protocol that tells the brain the work is done, triggering the biological shift from "High Alert" to "Rest Mode."

5. VISUAL VS. SCENT TRIGGERS

Know Your Hunter

The Logic: Not all predators hunt the same way. A Sight Hunter (Sighthound, Bird, Lizard) is triggered by movement (running). A Scent Hunter (Hound, Snake) is triggered by smell (tracking). We help you identify which sense drives your animal so you stop playing "fetch" with a dog that wants to "track," or waving a toy at a reptile that hunts by smell.

6. THE "ZOOMIES" (FRAP)

(The Energy Explosion)

The Logic: That moment when your animal runs wildly in circles? That is a Frenetic Random Activity Period (FRAP). It is often a release of pent-up predatory energy that wasn't used during the day. We explain why it happens (usually at dusk/dawn) and how to manage the chaos without getting hurt.

7. THE RED ZONE (Aggression)

(The Strike Logic)

The Logic: That moment when a snap, hiss, or lunge shatters the peace? That is the Red Zone—a state where the animal has stopped thinking and started reacting. We shift the focus to the "Human" part of the equation: if the animal doesn't find a calm-assertive leader to follow, they find a reason to strike. We identify the loading signals—the freeze, the stare, and the tension—so you can rule out pain as the architect of anger and use your own energy to reclaim the space

A Personal Note

I’m building this ecosystem by hand, piece by piece. Since it’s just me behind the blueprints, I’m always open to hearing your concerns and evolving this design with your feedback. As we grow, I’m planning to add a dedicated Q&A section to help tackle the specific logic of our pets' lives.

All I ask is that you bring those words with kindness. Let’s keep this community as respectful as the animals we love.

Thank you so much 😊
